Teacher and Technology:Era of Renaissance

The word question is essential to learning. A learner asks questions and seeks answers. Questioning leads to deeper understanding and increased knowledge. Questioning is essential to growth. We ask question to others so as to acquire information regarding a topic or a subject.It is like gathering fine flowers and fruits from the garden of knowledge, every flower got varied fragrance, every fruit holds new taste. So in continuation of my theme questioning I would like to raise the question “how technologies can affects teacher and teaching”.

In simple words we can say teacher is the individual who imparts education and teaches us. And for education we can relate it to something that helps in achieving numbers and grades in our due course of academics. With reference to the term “Pedagogy”, we can conclude that teacher is the individual who uses instructive strategies and set learning goals for student and himself.

We can also define teacher, without the hardliner border of terms and concepts, teacher is the medium between us and the education as teacher act as a catalyst for our every step taken towards education. One who tries to diminish our incapability and makes us realize our potentials.Teacher is the person who communicates with people of different group and languages but still speaks the lingua franca.

We are not trying to limitize the role of a teacher but in this ever changing world of technology, there is a new phrase added to the teacher “tech efficient”.If we look at Alpha Centauri, our nearest star, we are looking at what happened 4 years ago, as the light took 4 years to reach from its source to our eyes due to “Distance”. We don’t want our teacher to be “Alpha Centauri” and the “Distance” depicts the technological difference between the generations.

Even if in some field teachers are not accountable,still we don’t want to run in same pace as our earlier generation of teachers and students.The pedagogy should be intertwined with the current scenario of education and technology.Teachers are getting aware of advanced teaching aid like e-learning,blogs,innovative devices for classroom but we are still in a safe learning traditional environment, where teachers are teaching and learning but they are not successful in implementing the process they have acquired. The teacher is the link between inter generational concepts of education and if they are getting stronger means, we are realizing a new reform in education. Accordingly it should be a blend between traditional approaches with the technology. Whatever the end product will be, will it be fruitful or some other hoax of development in the field of education?

P2CConnect Part 2

We are focusing on Parent needs by being more detailed and informative as well as we had worked hard on Principal and Teacher’s view also.We had implemented new screens in our software which provides a bird’s eye view to every detail of particular class, section and student. Principal will be able to access the detailed information, it can be academic performance of a particular student or the parent usage of the service.

As a company we are emphasising on reforming Parents as well as empowering Principal and Teacher’s through various tools provided. We are providing a breakthrough for the Management and Principal so that they can be in touch with the students and parents as well. As it is physically difficult for a Principal of school to be in touch with every Student of the institution, P2CConnect works on this vaccum of interaction and information.

In our new version Principal will have the access to the Assignments, Notices, Parent-Teacher Interactions, Medical Profiles and Remarks of each Student.Principal will also have the option of viewing detailed Analysis Reports and Parent Usage, Attendance, Scores and CCE assessment. Principal can also compare results for specific Standards and Teachers without the hassle of maintaining paper work and files. They also have the liberty to access Parent login so that they will be able to view the information provided to the Parent. It will help the management to keep in touch with the service provided and they can also contribute with new ideas.

That’s the new logo and motto, denoting our working principle; we know inspired by the phrase Slow and Steady Wins the Race, reason being we were working on our new version i.e P2Cconnect Beta for one more year and we are glad to launch it by April 2011.Now we have here is a new and improvised website www.creativewaytech.com and a product to register our presence in the field and prove our motto “The Way Ahead”.

We are not jumping into a conclusion about us and our product cause this is the time we got to show what we have and what we are really upto. To support our claim, we are putting our best foot forward that is our accomplished version. We have raised our bars by introducing reformed structure to meet all the requirements of Parent, School and Student.

The service or application provided to parents by us covers particularly each and every aspect of child schooling. We intend on creating a link between Academics and Co-curricular, Problems and Solutions, even Parent and Teacher communication, and this all through a single login id for parent. We are acting like a hassle free outlet of information to parent. P2CConnect is also the binding link between the fragile relationship of school and parents. We are also committed to create awareness among parent regarding the current education scenario. We had introduced Articles and Blogs within www.p2cconnect.com , which will help parents to understand the current situation and trend in education through renowned educationist’s articles and blogs.

It’s about meeting all ends, Student by detail and assistance, Parents by awareness and information.

CCE, the new way

We all should ensure that our energy and thought process should be constructive and meaningful, so in this context we are working on CCE, the new educational system introduced by CBSE as a intiative to go beyond the age old approach of education in our country. It's been almost one and half year since CCE got implemented in schools. Most of us had no idea what CCE was and why is being introduced as we all are born and brought up in traditional approach of education, all those old methods of test and exams, a sole criteria for further success and education . Schools had implemented CCE as it was a CBSE instruction however efforts not been made to implement it as it was supposed to be, it was an effort to free the system from being sluggish and traditional. Still there is confusion in the air as CBSE is tryning hard to add new things to the format, in our view CCE should be allowed to get settled first rather then introducing all we have in our armory.

However, after one and half year I have different view on CCE. It is not as cumbersome as we think; there are pros to the cons in the CCE system if implemented correctly, like:

1. Student becomes regular in submission (school work).

2. Student becomes regular in Research work as they perform different activities in Formative assessment.

3. CCE provides student a chance to build on his/her strength.

4. Total Personality Development

5. It make evaluation an integral part of teaching-learning process.

6. Uses evaluation as a quality control devise to maintain desired standard of performance.

7. It determines social utility,desirability or effectiveness of a programme and take appropriate decisions about the learner, the process of learning and the learning environment.

CCE had surely increased the workload of Teachers but Students are most important entity in a teacher's life and nobody minds bit more effort for a better result. Parents also need to understand their part of responsibility because CCE is 360 degree system, as a parent you need to understand and analyze the information you receive under CCE system. 'Child' is a collective responsibility of parent & School and CCE provides a great platform for both to work together.Through CCE, CBSE had tried to reform the face of education prevalent in our country. We should take this as a chance to reveal what our students are really capable of in every field rather then sticking to there scoring marks. CCE focuses on an all-round growth of a student which is an important part for the academics as well as personal development of the child. We can see it as a next big step towards the reformation of our education system and the future associated with it.

New Version

It is now almost 2 years from the day when we started our journey and now we are ready with new version of our service P2CConnect. The new version will have better look and feel with more & better services both for parents and school.

My professors at MBA always told one thing to us that never fell in love with your product but when product is your dream, it is hard to follow this instruction. We have spent 9 months on this improved version but it hard to tell whether it is done for end users benefit or to satisfy my expectations.

In any case, you will have a new version of P2CConnect in few weeks and we invite your ideas and feedback so it can be included.
